FitGrid Introduces Class App: Connecting Classmates, Instructors, and Studios
September 28, 2020
FitGrid, the NYC SaaS startup that has been quietly powering the biggest names in fitness and has enabled millions of virtual studio visits during the lockdown, today announces an all-new social fitness platform, the FitGrid Class App. FitGrid’s Class App curates the best live-stream and in-person classes from real fitness studios around the world—plus it provides the human-to-human connection between classmates and instructors that is so often lacking these days. By recreating studios’ authentic communities online, FitGrid brings the world of fitness together. FitGrid enables classmates and instructors to connect, discover classes, track fitness goals, and earn rewards.
FitGrid’s discovery platform includes virtual and in-person fitness classes from both leading brands such as F45 Training and The Dailey Method as well as from smaller, independent studios. As part of its launch, FitGrid has partnered with athletic apparel brand Athleta to power free virtual classes for the Athleta NYC Empower Tour.
The FitGrid Class App is available today in the App Store and Play Store and supports thousands of fitness studios and small businesses at launch.
“Community has always been the holy grail of fitness. Now it is more important than ever before. Since COVID-19, studio-loyalty has increased by 25 percent according to our studio data,” says Nt Etuk, Founder & CEO of FitGrid. “That’s a huge jump in loyalty that we attribute to their members’ desire to be more deeply connected with their ‘fit fam.’ FitGrid is connecting everyone—the studios, the staff, the instructors, and classmates—in one space. By bringing these sticky, authentic communities together digitally, we’ve created a virtual experience unlike anything in the marketplace today.”
FitGrid’s AI-powered recommendation engine enables its users to find and manage classes in one place. They are sent links to virtual classes automatically and are notified when classes go live, friends sign up or a class is changed or canceled. FitGrid also helps its users discover new classes by giving them visibility into their friends’ favorite instructors, workouts, or fitness routines.
FitGrid users can also connect with and message classmates to let them know they’ll be sweating through a session together. Planned updates will allow users to message instructors after class to thank them for the session, say what they loved about a workout, or share their fitness goals. FitGrid users can also see who will be in class and how many people are signed up, which is especially helpful for people looking to take smaller-sized in-studio classes. This gives FitGrid users the option to connect with each other to grow their #fitfam or get integrated into a new studio more quickly.
The rise of virtual fitness has made it more challenging for members and instructors to have 1:1 conversations about goals, injuries, and form. With FitGrid, users can create customized profiles to alert instructors of pains or injuries, share photos, and set goals so instructors can tailor classes to individual needs. And, for people who are finding it hard to stay motivated, FitGrid helps out by displaying their progress toward weekly goals on the home dashboard, incentivizing users with reward points for every class they take.
FitGrid’s mission is to bring the world of fitness together to achieve collective goals. Three days after flights to and from Europe were canceled, FitGrid rolled out new software to its studio partners and the larger studio community to make live-streaming classes seamless and automatic. As a result, FitGrid helped studios retain more than half of their members, on average, in the wake of COVID-19. In that spirit, FitGrid thoughtfully designed its new discovery platform with a studio-first mentality that encourages users to buy directly from studios and invite new friends to class, thereby giving studio owners a new way to engage existing clients and reach new members.
The FitGrid Class App is available today for iOS and Android on the App Store and Play Store for free. Images, industry data, and videos are available here.
